It is accepted by many universities worldwide for admission, which has made it popular with students who need a fast, convenient option. The key thing to check is whether your specific universities accept it.

How Cosmos coaching is structured
- Confirm acceptance first. We check that your target universities take the Duolingo English Test and the score they need, so you don't prepare for a test they won't accept.
- Format familiarity. The DET is adaptive and fast-paced; practising the task types and timing is where most of the gain comes from.
- Skill focus. We target the areas that move your overall score most, based on a baseline test.
- Timed practice. Full-length practice under real conditions builds the composure the short, adaptive format rewards.

What is the Duolingo English Test used for?
The Duolingo English Test (DET) is used mainly for university admission. It is taken online from home, usually takes about an hour, and results come back quickly. Many universities worldwide accept it, though acceptance and minimum scores vary by institution, so confirm with your target program.
Is the Duolingo English Test accepted for Canada PR?
The Duolingo English Test is not on IRCC's list of approved tests for Canada Express Entry. For Canada permanent residence you would use CELPIP-General, IELTS General Training or PTE Core. The DET is for study, so it suits university admission rather than economic immigration.
How is the Duolingo English Test scored?
The DET is scored on a scale from 10 to 160. Universities set their own minimum, which varies by institution and program, so check the exact requirement on your target program's admissions page.
Why do students choose the Duolingo English Test?
It is convenient and quick: taken online at home, about an hour long, with fast results and a lower fee than many test-centre exams. The trade-off is that not every university accepts it, so confirm acceptance before you rely on it.
