Is the UAE Entrepreneur Visa a single step, or a staged process?

It is a staged process, not an instant long-term residence. You typically begin on a 6-month multi-entry business-setup visa, renewable once for a further 6 months, which lets you enter the UAE and establish the business on the ground. Once the company and the eligibility evidence are in place, you convert to the 5-year Golden Residence for entrepreneurs.

The practical point: the entry visa is the working phase where the file is built, and the Golden Residence is the outcome of a complete, accredited file. For Indian founders: residency, not renunciation

This is a UAE residence program, not citizenship. It does not require you to renounce Indian citizenship, surrender your Indian passport, or lose OCI — those concerns apply to investment-citizenship programs, not to this residence. What does apply is NRI tax-residency status and the RBI Liberalised Remittance Scheme when you fund the venture from India: remittances are currently capped at USD 250,000 per person per financial year (as of June 2026), subject to your bank's compliance checks.
