Get AssessmentEffective 18 February 2026, Nova Scotia consolidated its 10 former immigration streams into 4: Skilled Worker (employer-driven, for foreign workers and recent international graduates), Entrepreneur (for people who've started or bought a Nova Scotia business and run it for at least a year), Nova Scotia Graduate (recent grads of a Nova Scotia university or community college with a qualifying job), and Nova Scotia Express Entry (Demand and Experience pathways). The Labour Market Priorities and Labour Market Priorities Physicians streams — Express Entry-aligned fast-track routes offering an extra 600 CRS points — continue to run alongside these.
Then, on 27 April 2026, Nova Scotia layered a three-level occupation priority framework on top:
| Level | Occupations | Who can apply |
| Level 1 (top priority) | Healthcare and skilled trades, TEER 0-4 | International applicants AND temporary residents in NS |
| Level 2 | Sciences, education/law/social services, agriculture, manufacturing — TEER 0-4 | Temporary residents already in NS only |
| Level 3 (limited) | All remaining occupations, TEER 0-2 | Temporary residents already in NS only |
The honest note. If you're applying from Dubai and your occupation isn't healthcare or a skilled trade, the general Nova Scotia EOI pool is currently a narrow door — Level 2 and 3 are restricted to people already working in the province. Physicians have their own dedicated route regardless of these levels. An assessment tells you honestly whether Nova Scotia is your fastest path right now, or whether another province fits better.

Since 27 April 2026, Nova Scotia uses a three-level priority framework. Level 1 (top priority) covers healthcare and skilled trades occupations at NOC TEER 0-4, open to both international applicants and temporary residents already in the province. Level 2 covers additional occupation groups — natural and applied sciences, education/law/social and government services, natural resources/agriculture, and manufacturing/utilities — at TEER 0-4, but only for temporary residents already working in Nova Scotia. Level 3 covers all remaining occupations at TEER 0-2, limited to temporary residents already in the province. TEER 5 occupations aren't being considered under this framework.
It depends which occupation level you fall under. If your occupation is in Level 1 (healthcare or skilled trades, TEER 0-4), international applicants can still apply. Levels 2 and 3 currently restrict nominations to temporary residents already living and working in Nova Scotia, which significantly narrows the general EOI pool for applicants outside Canada who aren't in healthcare or skilled trades.
