“Canada’s goal is to welcome 465000 new immigrants in the immediate year 2023. For 2024 Canada plans to take in 485,000 new immigrants. This number will further rise to 500000 new immigrants in 2025. “

It’s not only the top country for aspirants in terms of education and career, it beats the USA in the list. Many applicants have fixed their eyes onto Canada immigration after the successful draws and improvised Immigration strategies of Canada.

What is Canada’s immigration strategy?

There are a few noteworthy reasons why Canada’s increasing its ambition to welcome more immigrants each year.

Canada is currently experiencing both a labor shortage and a vacancy gap. Since the population of the Canadian workforce is declining due to low birth rates, this gap needs to be filled by working immigrants.

Additionally, during the Corona pandemic, IRCC faced great difficulties in admitting new immigrants. Now that restrictions are lowered, Canada is opening its arms for new immigrants. Canada has already broken all records by welcoming 405,000 new permanent residents in 2021. But it is now only a distant memory compared to Canada’s future perspectives.

Even though the overall numbers speak for Canada’s welcoming stance, there are dips and furrows everywhere. Not every program will experience a rise. Some will face declination, while others will encounter no change at all.

Let’s see how Canada’s strategy will implement across different immigration routes:

Express entry and PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) will experience a striking rise in numbers.

Good news for applicants! Landings related to express entry, such as dependents, spouses and principle applicants, will encounter growth in numbers as follows.

  • 82,880 in 2023
  • 109,020 in 2024
  • 114,000 in 2025

The Provincial Nominee Program allows you to apply directly to the province. If that province agrees to nominate you, your express entry application is strengthened several fold.

The PNP system of immigration will also be experiencing a huge surge of acceptance.

Following are the number of new applications IRCC will process:

  • 105,500  in 2023
  • 110,000 in 2024
  • 117,500 in 2025

PGP aka Parents and Grandparents Program is aimed at reuniting the families. It hopes to bring the scattered families together to nurture the bonds and help them live under the same roof.

Although family class immigration programs will see no noteworthy surge, PGP systems will take flight.

Canada will continue to welcome 80000 new immigrants under partners, spouses and children programs, but PGP will experience a particular rise.

Following numbers indicate the year wise increase of new immigrants under PGP:

  • 28500 in 2023
  • 34000 in 2024
  • 36000 in 2025

The Humanitarian and Refugee sections will experience decline.

Canada has one of the highest humanitarian targets. Their current campaigns hope to welcome over 40000 refugees from Afghanistan. However, this number is likely to decrease by 2025.

Canada’s refugee targets will dip from 76000 in 2023 & 2024 to 72750 in 2025.

Humanitarian targets would be taking even the larger hit, likely by 50%. Canada will decrease their humanitarian targets from 16000 in 2023 to 8000 in 2025.

IN A NUTSHELL

New immigrants entering through express entry and PNP can expect good days in the upcoming years. It looks like Canada’s goal is to understand labor market needs and fill the gap with a working immigrant force. Canada also hopes to help families reunite. However, refugees and humanitarian targets will see a decline in the years ahead.
