Monthly income requirements apply (approximately EUR 760 for the primary applicant in 2024). Grants 2-year renewable residency leading to permanent residency and citizenship after 5 years.
D8 Digital Nomad Visa
Launched 2022. For remote workers and freelancers earning income from non-Portuguese sources. Minimum monthly income requirement of 4x the Portuguese minimum wage (approximately EUR 3,480/month in 2024).
Golden Visa (Revised 2023)
Post-2023 revisions removed real estate investment in most areas. Current qualifying routes include investment funds (EUR 500,000+), capital transfer (EUR 1.5M+), job creation (10+ qualifying jobs), and research/cultural contributions (EUR 250,000+).
NHR Tax Regime
Non-Habitual Resident status provides a flat 20% tax rate on qualifying Portuguese-source income and exemptions on most foreign-source income for 10 consecutive years. Significant advantage for UAE-based professionals relocating to Portugal.
