Here is why, and what to do instead.<\/p>\n<h2>What these tools actually are<\/h2>\n<p>Tools like ChatGPT are trained to produce plausible text, not to be right about your case. They can explain what Express Entry is or roughly how a study permit works, which is genuinely useful for background reading. What they cannot do is take legal responsibility, see your documents, or account for the specific facts that decide most cases. They are not registered with any immigration regulator, and no authority will accept &#8220;the AI told me so&#8221; as a reason for anything.<\/p>\n<h2>Where AI advice goes wrong<\/h2>\n<p>A few failure modes come up again and again:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>It is often out of date.<\/strong> Immigration rules change constantly. Canada raised the off-campus work limit, reset its Express Entry categories, and changed proof-of-funds requirements, all recently. In a legal process, a wrong specific is worse than no answer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>There is no accountability.<\/strong> If a licensed consultant gives you bad advice, they answer to a regulator. If a chatbot does, there is no one to answer to and no file to fix.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Use it for reading, not for deciding<\/h2>\n<p>None of this means AI is useless. It is a reasonable way to learn the vocabulary and get a rough map of a pathway before you speak to someone. The line to hold is simple: use it to understand the general shape of a pathway, never to decide your case or prepare your file.
