A finance profile is selected on its Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score or through a provincial nomination, and the 2026 rounds show how high that bar sits. Two dates make this worth planning now: Ontario closed its Express Entry-linked streams on 25 June 2026 in favour of a job-offer stream, and registering with CPA Ontario by 31 December 2026 keeps you in the current certification program before the new one launches in January 2027. We meet finance professionals in our Dubai office every week who have the experience but not yet the numbers. What follows is what the official pages say as at August 2026.<\/p>\n<div class=\"cosmos-glance\">\n<h3>At a glance<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Accountants (NOC 11100), financial analysts (11101) and financial managers (10010) qualify for Express Entry, but none of IRCC&#8217;s ten 2026 categories covers finance.<\/li>\n<li>From 5 January to 19 August 2026 IRCC held no general round; invitations went to PNP (cut-offs 708 to 805), Canadian Experience Class (507 to 523), French-language (382 to 420) and category rounds.<\/li>\n<li>A 32-year-old with a bachelor&#8217;s degree, six years of UAE experience and CLB 9 in all four English abilities scores about 413 without a nomination.<\/li>\n<li>CPA Canada lists the US CPA under a mutual recognition agreement and ICAP under an MOU; CPA Ontario and CPABC list ICAI under MOU pathways. ACCA is on none of those lists.<\/li>\n<li>Ontario&#8217;s new Workforce Priority stream needs a full-time permanent job offer; Saskatchewan excludes NOC 11100 from its Express Entry sub-category without an approved job offer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Which NOC code describes your work<\/h2>\n<p>Express Entry starts with the National Occupational Classification. The code must match your main duties rather than your job title, and the duties described in your reference letters are what support it. Some streams exclude 11100 but not the other two, so a controller or analyst whose duties genuinely fit 10010 or 11101 should not default to the accountant code.<\/p>\n<h2>Express Entry in 2026: no finance category, no general rounds so far<\/h2>\n<p>IRCC&#8217;s current categories are French-language proficiency, healthcare and social services, STEM, trades, education, transport, physicians, senior managers and researchers with Canadian work experience, and skilled military recruits. Accounting and finance occupations are in none of them.<\/p>\n<p>The rounds data on canada.ca shows that from 5 January to 19 August 2026 IRCC held 16 Provincial Nominee Program rounds with cut-offs between 708 and 805, 14 Canadian Experience Class rounds between 507 and 523, ten French-language rounds between 382 and 420, and a small number of category rounds. There was no general round in that period, which means a candidate abroad with no Canadian experience, no French and no nomination was not invited at any score. As of 16 August 2026 the pool held 226,859 profiles, 73,554 of them between 451 and 500. An ability under CLB 9 removes 37 transferability points in addition to the language points themselves, which is why we ask clients to treat the language test as the first serious step and not a formality. The ACCA qualification is not in this table. Whether an ECA organisation will assess it as a second post-secondary credential is a question for that organisation; if it does, the education line becomes 128 and the education transferability line 50.<\/p>\n<p>Additional points sit outside the grid above. A provincial nomination adds 600. French at NCLC 7 in all four abilities adds 50 when English is CLB 5 or higher, and it opens the French-language category, whose 2026 cut-offs ran from 382 to 420. Job-offer points were removed on 25 March 2025. The CPA is granted by provincial bodies under provincial law, so the route depends on where you settle, and the ECA you file with IRCC comes from a designated assessment organisation, not a CPA body. Thirty months of prescribed practical experience also applies, with an exemption assessment available after registration for international and Canadian experience. Processing takes a minimum of 12 weeks from a complete application.<\/p>\n<p>The timing point is the program change. The new CPA Professional Program launches in January 2027; people who register as students by 31 December 2026 stay in the current program and have two years to finish it. For the ICAI route, CPA Ontario requires a WES credential evaluation if you use your degree for the experience exemption. The <a href=\"https:\/\/cosmosimmigration.com\/verify-credentials\">credential verification page<\/a> explains how we order and track the assessments.<\/p>\n<h2>Provinces: where finance profiles have been selected<\/h2>\n<p>Ontario changed the most. On 25 June 2026 the province removed its eight streams, including Express Entry Human Capital Priorities, and introduced the Ontario Workforce Priority stream. The TEER 0 to 3 pathway requires a full-time, permanent job offer in Ontario, either six consecutive months in that job with that employer in the last 12 months or two years&#8217; cumulative experience in the NOC in the last five years, CLB 6, and a post-secondary degree or diploma. The expression-of-interest portal opened on 4 August 2026. The April 2026 regional draws under the old Employer Job Offer streams listed NOC 10010, 11100 and 11101, so employer demand for finance roles existed before the redesign.<\/p>\n<p>British Columbia&#8217;s Skills Immigration streams are built around a job offer. Saskatchewan&#8217;s Express Entry sub-category asks for 60 points on the SINP grid and an ECA, but its Excluded Occupation List (updated 1 May 2024) names 11100 Financial auditors and accountants; those applicants need the Employment Offer sub-category with an approved job offer. NOC 11101 and 10010 are not on that list. Alberta&#8217;s Express Entry Stream page names health care, technology, law enforcement, construction, agriculture and aviation as priorities, not finance. Provincial routes that select finance occupations mostly run through an employer; our post on <a href=\"https:\/\/cosmosimmigration.com\/blog\/canada-pnp-without-job-offer-uae\/\">PNP options without a job offer<\/a> sets out the remaining exceptions.<\/p>\n<h2>From the UAE: what this means for you<\/h2>\n<p>Order the pieces so nothing expires while you wait. Language results must be under two years old when you enter the pool and when you apply. The accepted English tests are CELPIP-General, IELTS General Training and PTE Core; IELTS One Skill Retake is not accepted, so plan for a full resit if one ability lands under CLB 9.<\/p>\n<p>Your ECA must be less than five years old at profile and at application. IRCC&#8217;s designated organisations are World Education Services, the International Credential Assessment Service of Canada, the Comparative Education Service at the University of Toronto, IQAS and ICES at BCIT; in most cases only your highest credential needs assessing. The Federal Skilled Worker Program needs at least one year of continuous, paid, skilled work in a TEER 0 to 3 occupation and 67 points on its selection grid, so the reference letters you collect from current and former employers should describe duties that match the NOC code you claim.<\/p>\n<p>Proof of funds, on the IRCC table marked updated 7 July 2025, is CAD 15,263 for one person, 19,001 for two, 23,360 for three and 28,362 for four; our guide to <a href=\"https:\/\/cosmosimmigration.com\/blog\/express-entry-proof-of-funds-uae-bank-statements\/\">proof of funds with UAE bank statements<\/a> covers the statement format. IRCC accepts one police clearance from any emirate, applied for online through Dubai Police, in person at your emirate&#8217;s police department, or in person at the nearest UAE embassy.<\/p>\n<h2>Frequently asked questions<\/h2>\n<h3>Can I be invited through Express Entry without a job offer or nomination?<\/h3>\n<p>Only in a general round or a category you qualify for. IRCC held no general round between 5 January and 19 August 2026 and finance is not a category, so the levers are French at NCLC 7, a provincial nomination or Canadian experience.<\/p>\n<h3>Does my ACCA count for CRS points?<\/h3>\n<p>Only if an IRCC-designated organisation assesses it as a post-secondary credential; CPA recognition has no effect on CRS.
